Biography

Alexander moved to London at the age of 17 to study at Mountview Theatre School . He graduated from the 3-year acting course in 1998.

After appearing in big advert campaigns for McDonalds and Tesco, Alexander was cast in Joe Wright's “Nature Boy” series, which went on to win the Royal Television Society award for best drama serial. Next came work on David Yates' “The Sins” (Edgar Allen Poe Awards – Best Television Miniseries) and Peter Kosminsky's “The Project”. This lead to Alexander's highest profile work to date, when he appeared as Ralph in every episode of Ricky Gervais' Golden Globe winning “The Office”. The show has since been shown in over 30 countries and went on to win another 21 awards worldwide, including 6 BAFTAs.

Recently, Alexander worked on “If…Women Ruled The World" and “Heavenly Father”, both directed by Ursula Macfarlane, and played a young manic depressive man in “The Bill” directed by Sven Arnsteen. This year, he will appear as PC Kenneth Peters in the final series of “Foyle's War” directed by Gavin Millar.

Alexander has played the lead in 3 short films, “Matinee”, “One Minute Past Midnight” (Chicago International Film Festival, Best Short Film 2005) and the upcoming dark comedy; “Reg”. Radio work includes Radio 4's “The Rotter's Club”. Alexander has also presented a number of shows on London Network Radio including the flagship “Kidz Radio” and “Saturday Afternoon with Alex” since 1998.

In 2005, Alexander worked extensively in theatre, performing on a number 1 tour (including the West End) of “The Gruffalo” and creating the sequel, “The Gruffalo's Child”. He is also one half of comedy group Perki and Mann. He co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in “Perki and Mann are Squatting” at The Pleasance in the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. “Perki and Mann are Spooked” was also at the Pleasance for the 2006 Festival. They are currently writing “Perki and Mann 3” for this year's festival.
